On 23 March 2019, the Polish Community Trust again presented an impressive food stall at the yearly Tauranga Multicultural Festival. The Polish ladies had baked and displayed cakes, cookies, pies and croissants. All Polish goodies were sold before 2 o’clock, which never happened before. As always, the proceeds went to the fund supporting the Polish language school and events promoting Polish culture.

The Polish children and their parents dressed in traditional costumes took part in the Parade of Nations at noon. They also gave a colourful dance performance on the stage.

This year the Festival drew hundreds of people not only to celebrate multiculturalism but also to commemorate the tragic shooting in Christchurch. Magdalena James was quoted in the Bay of Plenty Times after a short interview stressing the importance of  different cultures coming together and celebrating the human spirit.

Simon Bridges, MP and Leader of the Opposition Party, whose wife is half Polish, enjoyed a chat and a slice of cheesecake at the Polish stall.
