On 5 November 2016 the Federation of Polish Organizations in New Zealand (FPONZ) met in Tauranga for their annual general meeting. The Polish Community Trust hosted the event in the Multicultural Centre at the Historic Village. FPONZ President Dorota Szymanska outlined the goals, the scope of operations, as well as the accomplishments and challenges of the organisation. The Polish ambassador, Zbigniew Gniatkowski, joined the meeting from Wellington via Skype. He gave advice and summarised the accomplishments of his diplomatic post and the Polish groups around New Zealand. The day started and ended in a cooperative, warm and festive atmosphere: first with a meeting at the Village cafe (pictured below), then with a dinner in the Japanese restaurant, Akara, on the Strand.
